NSE.IT was spun off as an independent company in October 1999. Prior to this it was the IT department of NSE right from it incorporation in Nov 1992 . It had the mandate to serve the trading community with state of the art software products and services, in addition to its continued role as the Operation and Technology arm of the National Stock Exchange. From October 2006 , the part of the organization supporting NSE's operations was demerged from NSE.IT Limited in to a separate entity called NSE Infotech Ltd.
